About us
Combe Bank Choral Society is a community choir based at Combe Bank School in Sundridge, Sevenoaks. Membership of the choir is open to anyone from the school or local community and each concert features between 80 and 120 singers. At least one concert each year is performed with full orchestra.
The choir provides an opportunity for girls at Combe Bank to experience singing in a full SATB choir and we tackle a range of repertoire, from large-scale classical choral works to popular, jazz and world music. Where possible girls are given the opportunity to sing the soprano and alto solos, and adult members of the choir, or professional singers, are invited to sing the tenor and bass solos as appropriate.
At the moment younger girls meet during the school day to rehearse, and are occasionally joined by children from other schools, whereas adults and older girls meet together in the school hall on Monday evenings from 7.30 – 9.00 pm. There is usually a small membership fee for each session which includes the costs of hired or purchased music.
Current members of the choir include members of staff, brothers and sisters, parents and grandparents of Combe Bank girls, plus a large number of local singers, many of whom have no formal connection with the school. We very much welcome this local involvement and there are no auditions. You are very welcome to join us for just one session or to come along for one or two rehearsals to see if you would like to join us.
Recently a group of adults from the choral society joined Combe Bank's Chapel Choir for a highly successful trip to Rome where we sang at a range of prestigious venues including for Mass at St Peter's. Visit the Rome page to find out more about this.
